17 Things I’ve Learned in 17 Years While Connecting Exceptionally
Celebrating Exceptional Connections®—and the people who make it extraordinary
When I founded Exceptional Connections in 2009, I believed that bringing people together with intention could create something meaningful.
Every Contact Is a Touch
Every interaction is an opportunity to help someone feel seen, heard, and valued. A casual conversation, email, text, virtual meeting, networking event, thoughtful follow-up, or social media exchange can become a meaningful touch in a growing relationship.
One encounter may open the door. Consistent, caring contact helps a relationship take root.
The Nest, The Flight, and the Power of Community
One of nature's most fascinating lessons comes from wild birds. As baby birds grow, many parent birds begin making the nest less comfortable. They stop bringing food as frequently, remove the soft feathers that once cushioned the nest, and spend more time perched nearby rather than hovering over their young.
Why?
Because the nest was never meant to be a permanent home.
What It Means to Be a Champion: The Journey to Becoming One
When we hear the word Champion, many of us immediately picture someone who has won a competition—someone standing on a podium holding a trophy or the first to cross a finish line. But what if being a Champion is about something much deeper than winning?
A New Year, A Shared Purpose: Why Exceptional Connections Matter More Than Ever
As we welcome a brand-new year, my heart is overflowing with gratitude for you—and hope for all that lies ahead. A new year always brings fresh possibilities. At Exceptional Connections, we don’t step into those possibilities alone. We move forward linked arm in arm, grounded in meaningful relationships, shared purpose, and genuine care for one another.
Lessons Gleaned From My Garden
This was first presented in December of 2019 at an Exceptional Connections event. I read it loud and proud as I really do believe this topic is important for us as business people. Gardening is a lot more like networking than you might think at first glance.
